AR HMT - Call for Evidence - Questions and Views

The government is calling for evidence to inform its fundamental review of business rates and AR will be responding as the current system and the questions posed present all our members with significant problems and concerns.

The government has asked for responses to 43 wide ranging questions, of which the first 9 on the approach to the multiplier and relief elements of the tax must be replied to by 18 September and the remainder by 30 October relates to issue of valuation, administration, technical elements including taxation of plant & machinery and finally alternatives.

AR has published all the questions on the AR website in an easy to use spreadsheet format. We would welcome comments to be entered against each question and responses to be made to chairman@accessibleretail.co.uk .

The AR Board would welcome the views and concerns of as many members as possible and is urging all members to go on the website and complete the spreadsheet. Members are asked to respond by 23 August, preferably on all the questions, but if this is difficult on the first nine by then with the rest to follow by no later than 1st September.

We look forward to hearing from you and getting your support.
