Business Rates – Challenge, Check and Appeal (CCA)
No regulations have been published following the October 2016 consultation. There are a number of concerns, one of the main ones being a proposal to limit the extent to which assessments can be amended. This may be contrary to the right to have a specific assessment and may also be a breach of Article 6 under the ECHR and various trade bodies are considering options including possibly challenge in the courts. AR will continue to monitor the situation. (see attachment)
