AR engage with Retail Industry Council

Retail Industry Council

AR have engaged with the Retail Industry Council so that we can give our membership a voice in matters including:

  • The costs impacting retail businesses
  • The importance of ‘Place’ - high streets and  alternative retail destinations;
  • Employment, skills and productivity.

We have confirmed that we want to put forward AR’s views in several of the following seven worksteam areas, in the priority order : 1, 5, 2 and 3

1.Cost to Business (frictional costs on retail) – Richard Pennycook is the lead

2.Skills and Lifelong Learning (current and future skills needs) – Doug Gurr (MD Amazon) is the lead

3.Employment (quality of work, flexibility) – Helen Dickinson (CEO British Retail Consortium) is the lead

4.Productivity (specific focus on SMEs) – lead TBC

5.Place (importance to retail, high streets and driving up footfall) – Diane Savory (Chair GFirst LEP) is the lead

6.Consumer Protections – Ursula Lidbetter (CEO Lincolnshire Coop) is the lead

7.Circular Economy – Victoria Robertshaw (CEO Keelham Farm Shop) is the lead
