At the end of the month myself and 15 others from CBRE are embarking on the Lake District 24 Peak Challenge – that is, 24 peaks in 24 hours. It involves covering over 50km and 4,250m of ascent/descent and is widely recognised as the Lake District’s toughest challenge.

We are raising funds for our charity of the year, Action for Children, who help disadvantaged children across the UK through fostering or adoption and intervene to stop neglect and abuse.

JustGiving

Our plan is to raise £500,000 over the next 2 years. These funds will help Action for Children to:

  • Hire 5 specialist workers across the UK who will work directly with children transitioning from care into independent living. These workers will provide practical and emotional support for these children, for example helping them to find suitable accommodation, teaching them living skills to help them live more successfully independently, and keeping them on track in education or employment.
  • Digitalise a new advice booklet for children in care, so they can receive support whenever they need it
  • Digitalise a new foster parent handbook - a tool that provides advice to foster parents to help them create the most positive and successful home environments for children in care. This will help Action for Children to prevent placements from breaking down and ensuring children in care have the safe, stable and loving homes they deserve
